How to make a QR code
Last updated:
Pick what the code should open, type in your link or details, then download the code as a picture. It takes about a minute, and it is free.
Step 1: choose what the code opens
A QR code can do more than open a web page. In QRVivid, pick one at the top:
- Link: opens a website, a menu, a form or a video.
- Wi‑Fi: joins your network without typing the password.
- Contact card: saves your name, phone and email.
- Email, SMS, phone call, WhatsApp: starts a message or call.
- Event, location or text.
Step 2: type your details
For a link, copy it from your browser’s address bar and paste it in. Shorter links make simpler codes that scan more easily.
Double-check spelling. You cannot fix a printed static code later.
Step 3: choose a style
- Photo code puts a picture inside the code. Use a sample or your own photo.
- Styled code lets you pick colours, dot shapes, corners and a logo.
Keep the dots dark and the background light. Phones need that contrast.
Step 4: check that it scans
QRVivid scans your code in the browser as you make it. Wait for the green Scans well note. If you see a warning, follow the tip under the preview.
Then scan it with your own phone. Make sure it opens the right page.
Step 5: download
- PNG is a normal picture. Use Medium for screens and Large for print.
- SVG stays sharp at any size. Printers like it. It is available for styled codes.
Step 6: put it to use
- Print it on cards, flyers, menus or stickers. See What size should a QR code be?
- Add it to a Canva design or a Word document. See How to add a QR code in Canva or Word.
- Add a few words next to it, like “Scan for the menu”, so people know what they get.
Does it cost anything or expire?
No. QRVivid codes are free, with no account. Your link goes right into the code. It does not pass through our servers, so the code never expires. Your text and photos stay on your device.
